Every year, Canadians throw away 3 million tons of plastic waste, only 9% of which is recycled. Majority of plastics end up in landfills and about 29,000 tons find its way into our natural environment. To tackle this issue TerraCycle has partnered with L’Oréal Canada to provide a resource for customers to recycle their used cosmetics. This will help us to achieve our waste reduction goals and commitment to sending zero waste to landfill, as well as educating and helping customers to recycle!

Customers can enjoy the convenience of recycling their beauty empties for free at their favorite local retailers.

The following can be dropped off in-store in dedicated recycling bins from:

Plastic and glass tubes, pots, pumps, sprays, and jars

Lipstick, lip balm, and lip gloss tubes, cases, and caps

Mascara tubes

Eyeliner pencils and cases

Eyeshadow and bronzer cases

Foundation packaging

Powder cases

Eyeshadow and concealer tubes and sticks

Perfume, nail polish bottles, nail polish remover bottles, and pressurized canisters (including aerosol cans) are not accepted through this program.

All cosmetic packaging collected in-store through the L’Oréal Committed Beauty Recycling Program is returned to TerraCycle to be cleaned, separated by material type, and recycled into raw formats that manufacturers use to make new products.
